James Wesley Orand, 87 of Borger, formerly of Pampa, passed away April 17, 2019 in Borger.
Memorial services will be 10:00 AM Monday, April 22, 2019 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. Lynn Hancock, pastor of Briarwood Church, and Rev. Bob Upchurch, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.
Mr. Orand was born August 10, 1931 in Spur to Simon and Pearlie Orand. He attended schools in Spur and Memphis before entering the U. S. Army in 1950. James was a proud Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1953. He married Florence Helen McKinney in Dalhart in 1954. She preceded him in death in 1974. James later married Oveta Rae Conner in 1987 and she preceded him in death in February of 2017. He lived most of his life in Pampa and the surrounding communities. He worked for the highway department for 20 years before going to work for B & L Tank Truck for many years. James ended his working career with Ogden & Son in 1997. He moved to Rockport in 1997, living there until 2017 when he moved to Borger. He loved, and was very proud of his family, and enjoyed cooking outside, traveling and being on the water. James was the last of his ten siblings.
Survivors include four daughters, Linda Wagner of Pampa, Marie McCathern and husband Derrell of Winona, Teresa Taylor and husband R. K. of Livingston, and Darla Giger of Pampa; a son, Danny Orand and wife Ashlee of Pampa; 15 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. James was preceded in death by a daughter, Becky Helfer, a son, William Collins, 10 brothers and sisters, two granddaughters, Graci Orand, Jamie Boone, and grandson, Michael Paul McCathern.
