Pampa Mom Prom has its very own scholarship! Young women who are entering college, university, technical, or trade school are encouraged to apply. The deadline for applications is Friday, April 21st.
Dakota Kenney and Tiffany Kimmell are Co-President of Pampa Mom Prom, a nonprofit organization that provides women (not just moms) a chance to dress up for a ladies’ night out.
“The event is all about bringing women together. A time for women, not solely moms, to get away from the everyday life,” Kimmell said. “Since Pampa Mom Prom is by women, for women, we wanted to do something that would benefit young women in some way.”
“We settled on a scholarship to help young women who are going to college or trade schools,” Kenney said. “The scholarship will help them get started in life.”
The 2023-2024 Female Leader Scholarship is open to young women who are actively involved in their schools and exhibit leadership qualities.
The minimum requirements for applicants are:
• Must be a legal resident of Texas
• Must be a resident of the following counties: Gray, Carson, Roberts, Hutchinson, Hemphill, Wheeler, Ochilltree, and Lipscomb
• Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 (on a 4-point scale)
• Must be enrolling as a full-time student
Of the submitted applications, Kenney and Kimmell will decide on the finalists. From there, the finalists will be presented anonymously to a committee for the final decision.
“We are hoping for two winners this year,” Kenney said.
Kenney and Kimmell have taken suggestions for next year’s scholarship theme.
“A scholarship geared towards moms has been requested,” Kimmell said. “That is something we are still looking into and considering for next year.”
Kenney expressed her sincerest appreciation for all the support Pampa Mom Prom has received.
“We want to thank everyone who sponsored Pampa Mom Prom 2023,” Kenney said. “The next Mom Prom will be held on March 2nd, 2024.”
