A Healing Jesus

Posted

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

Life is something that we so often take for granted.  We rise up in the morning and go through the day doing the things that we are called upon to do.  We go from one thing to another without even thinking about how blessed we are to be able to do all we are doing.  But not everyone is so fortunate.

Many folks that I know have been going through a great deal in their lives.  There are those that are dealing with sickness that is yet to be diagnosed.  Some are fighting cancer or some health issues that requires ongoing treatment.  Others are grieving at the death of their loved ones.

My heart has really been in a struggle because of the issues that have been going on.  There is a song that has come to mean a lot to me as I considered what all has been taking place.  This song has come to my mind as I entered a time of prayer or as I reflected on a conversation that I have had with an individual.

The name of the song is “What a Healing Jesus”.  Let me share the words with you.

Verse 1 -- When walking by the sea ‘Come and follow Me’, Jesus called, then all through Galilee the sick and the diseased He healed them all.  Jesus hasn’t changed; His power is just the same as when He walked the shore.  This God of yesterday is still the healing Jesus, now and evermore.

Chorus: -- What a healing Jesus I’ve found in You.  What a healing Jesus, You restore, refresh and renew.  You’re my healing Jesus, for such a time as this.  Arise on healing wings, Son of Righteousness.

Verse 2 -- The Spirit of the Lord now is upon me, anointing me, to heal the broken hearts, open prison doors, set captives free, to comfort those that mourn and fill their lips with praise, to pour the oil of joy that they may be called the trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord.

As I sit at this keyboard I am thinking about what I am going to share at a service for a young man that had come to mean a great deal to me.  He touched my life as he did many others.  His family plus so many others are remembering the way he touched their lives and brought a smile to their face.

The struggle is great and seems to be unending.  And there are those who are struggling with the unknown.  They are yet to find out what is keeping them at home.  Some have had physical issues, while others are dealing with relational problems.  Are we different from others?  I don’t think so.  I believe that these issues impact people everywhere.

Yet in the midst of it all Jesus stands as the healing Jesus.  We turn to Him in the midst of all that is taking place to find that He restores, refreshes and renews.  He’s our healing Jesus for such a time as this.

In Matthew 4:23-24 it says -- 23 Jesus was going throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness among the people. 24 The news about Him spread throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all who were ill, those suffering with various diseases and pains, demoniacs, epileptics, paralytics; and He healed them.

I believe that we often fail to remember that Jesus is the one who brings healing into our lives.  As you walk through the days to come meditate on this truth – Jesus loves you and comes to you in the midst of your hurt and pain.  Praise the Lord, He is a healing Jesus.

Satan will come after us as we go through each day, but remember what Peter wrote in 1 Peter 5:6-7 -- “6Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, 7casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.

What a thought!  What a promise!  What a healing Jesus!  So, you see, it is true ---------------------

JESUS, JESUS, JESUS, there IS something about that name!!

Christ only, always,

Bro. Paul
