Seasons of Life, named after each journey of life people go through, has opened up to the public with hand-crafted gifts. Alexis Pena, owner and creator of ‘Seasons of Life’ was born and raised in Pampa, a single mother, Pena works her full-time job but has created this new business venture on the side.
“Seasons of Life, the name speaks for itself, in life, we all go through different seasons,” Owner, Alexis Pena said. “Me personally, I’ve been through a lot of different seasons, so I try to offer a variety of things through my business. I made it in a memorial for my grandmother, who I lost to cancer, and she was my biggest supporter. So the logo, with sunflowers is another way I remember her. For me, my business is a big deal because it’s my new journey in life. I strive to have something for everybody.”
For now, the business is done on the side. A 10-month-old business has grown since its opening. When the business idea went into play, Pena was posting on her personal account but from the responses, she opened a Facebook account for Seasons of Life.
“This started out just posting through my Facebook, but I stayed consistent with what people were after and it grew from there,” Pena said. “I continue to do new things, and make new things to appeal to everybody.”
For now, the business operates through Facebook, posting stock and taking in orders from there. The first appearance for Seasons of Life was at the grand opening of the second Atomic Ice House. But, the business will be at The Pampa Farmers Market.
“With my job, I will be set up at the farmers market every other Saturday,” Pena said. “So I will be there with all my inventory to sell. For now, the business offers jewelry of all kinds and handcrafted things around crystals. Eventually, the business will expand to doing t-shirts to give that much more for what someone might be looking for.”
Customization is a key part of Pena’s business as well. Taking in any custom order, or trying a new venture.
“For me, it’s all about getting the customer what they’re looking for,” Pena said. “Anything that can be homemade, I’m willing to try making it if it’s something I’ve never done before.”
Pena pays respect to Stefanie Payne who helped get the business of the ground. After the support of Payne, Pena took the business to the next step of posting about it and seeing how the responses would be.
“I’ve had people that supported me from the beginning, coming back for more stuff a lot of times,” Pena said. “It’s been nice so far, the response has been good for me and excites me for what comes next.”
For the past 10 months, the business has been an out-of-work project for Pena. After working her 60 hours a week job, every available hour is spent on her new business.
“My two days off a week, I’m at home working on this,” Pena said. “Any free time I get is not free time it’s business time. There are days I skip sleep to get my orders done. It’s tough, but I’m determined. I want this to be something that grows, mostly so I can show my son that your hard work pays off. So the sacrifices for Seasons of Life will teach a lesson to my son no matter what.”
The new business is not the only of its kind, but that doesn’t put doubt into Pena’s mind about her business. When asked to join the farmers market, Pena had to take into serious consideration what this would mean for her and Seasons of Life.
“I know there will be some other places doing what I do, but I truly believe the audience that is meant for me, will find me,” Pena said. “If the customers are meant to find me, they will. After doing the event at Atomic Ice House, the lady in charge of the farmers market reached out to me with interest in for me to join the farmers market. I thought it would be a great opportunity to get my business and name out there, and I will always take those opportunities.”
Seasons of Life is open to all orders, and willing to create new things. They will be set up at The Pampa Farmers Market every other Saturday starting July 1st. For custom orders, or to view previous work done, visit their Facebook page Seasons of Life
