Alice Alvena Adams Chaney, 76, of Pampa, passed away on Saturday, January 1, 2022 in Pampa.

Gravesides services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, January 6, 2022, at the Memory Gardens Mausoleum with Pastor Kyle Ohsfeldt of Grace Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Alice was born on November 5, 1945 in Galesburg, Illinois, to Lonzo and Cora Lee Adams. She attended schools in Galesburg and Bushnell, Illinois. Throughout most of her life, Alice was busy working many different jobs. She worked for several restaurants in Illinois during her younger years. She also worked at the state hospital in Illinois for a while. Later, she was employed by the Excel meat packing plant in Beardstown, Illinois. When she moved to Colorado, she worked for CORE Electric for many years, and eventually worked in Colorado public schools, first as a bus driver, then a janitor. Alice retired in 2015, but she continued to stay busy. In her spare time, she liked to craft, crochet, and cook. She canned fruits and vegetables from her garden and the roadside market and would teach anybody how to do it. She also enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting elk. Alice loved people and would help anyone in need. She enjoyed being with family and would travel many miles to visit them. In 2020, she moved to Pampa to be with her nephew, Jack Adams. Alice will be greatly missed by all her friends and family.

Alice is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Luther Lee Brummett; and a sister, Bertha Adams.

She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Cooper and husband Allan of Mount Sterling, Illinois; her son, Alonzo Wayne Chaney of Naples, Illinois; four grandchildren, Joshua Decker of Marseilles, Illinois, Leslie Cowick and husband Dustin of Meredosia, Illinois, Joseph Chaney and Jessica Merriman of Virginia, Illinois, and Lisa Hileman and husband Brock of Winchester, Illinois; several great-grandchildren; three sisters, Amelia Day of Missouri, Lottie Elliott of Jacksonville, Illinois, and Sarah Clores of Jacksonville, Illinois; and several nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
