The Eugene and Daniela Anderson Scholarship Foundation (ASF), has announced that graduating Pampa High School students (PHS) Luis Martinez and Benjamin Langford are this year’s Anderson Scholars, and each have been selected to receive an Anderson Foundation Scholarship.
Luis Martinez has been awarded a four-year scholarship of $20,000 from the Anderson Scholarship Foundation. Luis is ranked fifth in his class, and has earned a GPA of 3.9454.
He is the son of Jesus and Lidia Garcia. He is the Vice President of the Superintendent Student Ambassadors; a member of the Superintendent’s Leadership Advisory Council, and served on the Pampa ISD Strategic Planning committee. He is also the Vice President of the Speech and Debate team, and his Bill was selected for competition use by TFA (first time in PHS History). He is a member of the Choir and Show Choir, and recently sang at the Texas State Board of Education Meeting in Austin. He qualified for District and Pre-Area TMEA Choir, and he is a two-year qualifier for state choir solo and ensemble. He is a member of Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA); and he is a three-year qualifier for State Competition, and a state finalist. He is the Student Body Reporter, and a member of the National Honor Society, Students Against Destructive Decisions, and the Band. His peers selected him as the 2021 Homecoming King for Pampa High School. He has been involved in his community through his volunteer work at the Pampa Animal Shelter, Christmas Shopping Tour, Pampa ISD elementary campuses; and he has helped with many community outreach projects. Luis plans to attend West Texas A & M University, major in Business Administration, and minor in Music.
Benjamin Langford has also been awarded a four year scholarship of $20,000.00 from the Anderson Scholarship Foundation. Benjamin is ranked third in his class, and has earned a GPA of 4.1531. He is the son of Mark and Sandra Langford. He is the Vice President of the National Honor Society, and the Treasurer of the PHS Student Body. He is a Team Captain for the Varsity Tennis Team, and qualified for All-District First Team in mixed doubles. He is a National Cyber Scholar; and he is nationally recognized by Governor Greg Abbott for this accomplishment. He is on the UIL Academic Team, and he is a regional qualifier in Computer Science. He was a member of the band, and qualified for state in ensemble. He represented Pampa High School on the first place Texas Association of Community Schools Academic Challenge Team. He received an Outstanding Achievement Award in Engineering Science; and he has worked as an intern at Open Range Engineering. He has been involved in his community through volunteer work at Travis Elementary School, and as a math tutor. He has volunteered for many school, community, and church outreach projects. Benjamin plans to attend Texas A & M University and major in computer engineering.
Anderson Scholars who have recently graduated or will graduate in May 2022, include Colin Pirtle (Marketing) from Baylor University; Jordan Littlefield (physics) Texas Tech University, graduating a year early; and Cierra Ditmore (Computer Science) from Texas Tech University, graduating with Honors and Summa cum laude.
Anderson Scholars who are continuing their studies include: Avery Sprinkle (nursing) at Texas A & M University; Taylor Jefferis (Biology) at Howard Payne University; Cooper Trolinger (music) at Wayland Baptist University; Sheylah Arreola (English) at University of Texas at Arlington; Rylee Parks (Biology) at Southwestern Oklahoma State University; Paige Richards (pre-medicine) at Texas Tech University; Mason Zamudio (Secondary Education) at Texas Tech University; and Noelia Moreno (Nursing) at Hardin-Simmons University.
The Eugene and Daniela Anderson Scholarship Foundation was established in 2000 to assist students to obtain higher education. Since that time, the Foundation has awarded 75 Scholarships valued at over $1,390,000. In 2021, Mrs. Daniela Anderson, transferred the Anderson Scholarship Foundation to Pampa ISD to manage. The Foundation intends to continue to provide scholarships exclusively to students of Pampa High School. Students at Pampa High School, who would hope to become Anderson Scholars and benefit from the Anderson Scholarship Foundation must achieve high academic standards, contribute positively to their school and community, and demonstrate financial need. The late Eugene (Gene) Anderson is a 1956 graduate of Pampa High School, and a member of the PHS Hall of Fame. He is the founder of the Eugene and Daniela Anderson Scholarship Foundation. Mr. Anderson is a 1961 graduate of the University of Texas where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering and a 1963 graduate of Harvard University where he received a Master of Business Administration degree. In his business career, he was an investor and held several senior international management positions.
