Beautiful and Uniquely You with Sarah Williams

Posted

I recently had the privilege of sitting down with local makeup artist and skin care guru Sarah Williams for a private skin care clinic, which she offers for free to those who make appointments with her. Products used in free makeup or skin care clinics are Sarah’s choice and are tailored to your personal needs.

“Because you are using my products, I don’t charge you. Or, you can pre-order a bundle so that when you come, that’s actually your palette. And then you are taught how to use it,” said Williams.

“I help people even with their own personal makeup.”

She also offers premium (paid) skincare and makeup clinics with the client’s choice of professional products, which she will also tailor to the specific needs of her client.

Her clinics are typically scheduled for Fridays and Saturdays so that it’s convenient for working women and moms. Space is limited, so interested parties would need to RSVP their spot.

My personal experience was both relaxing and educational, and I left feeling refreshed and smelling like a rose. I also feel that every product used and every bit of advice she offered were specified to my personal skin care needs.

I have drier, less oily skin that can start to flake if I don’t moisturize regularly. Certain scented products can also cause irritation and redness, so finding a skin cleansing or moisturizing product can often be a challenge for me and I don’t always choose the right thing the first time.

Sitting down with Sarah helped me realize a lot of the things I was doing wrong and right in my personal skin care routine.

Firstly, I realized that buying products from different brands as I was experimenting was actually causing more problems for me than it was helping. I also realized that any result I got from using these products would be inconsistent because I was mixing brands.

“Pulling from different brands that are not formulated to work together is basically causing chemical warfare on your face,” Williams explained.

She recommended always trying items from the same product line instead of pulling from different brands.

She also explained the level of inconsistency in many drugstore products, especially makeup, and that most major drug store brands are all owned by the same three companies. She also explained that products from these different brands are often made in the same factory and are shipped through the same warehouses as one another.

“That’s the beauty of finding an independent retailer. Their products are going to be a lot more consistent than anything you will find at Walmart or another drug store,” Williams said.

Some of Sarah’s go-to brands include independent retailers such as Mary Kay and SmashBox.

She considers makeup foundation to be more related to skincare rather than makeup, because it’s what you directly apply to the top layer of your skin. Most foundations have sun screen in them, which provides some protection from UV light. UV light is a key player in aging and discoloration of the skin. In addition to UV light from the sun, you can also be damaged by UV that is projected from your computer or phone screens.

“Twenty percent of our aging issues are genetic. The other 80 percent is environmental,” said Williams.

Sarah spends a lot of time researching different brands in order to send her clients in the right direction for their personal needs. She runs a Facebook page and group called “Beautiful and Uniquely You”.

“I do lives (live videos on Facebook) comparing products. I tell people “This is what I use, and this is why I love it, and if you are interested, pm (private message) me and we can talk.” I want to make that connection first before making a (sales) pitch. It’s about connections,” Williams said.

“I also want to make sure you don’t already have a consultant, because taking someone else’s client is a no-no.”

Sarah likes to take her time with her clients and only offer products she feels her customers will really use. She doesn’t want any of her clients to have what she calls a “graveyard of products.” She wants them to enjoy her products and to feel as if they got their money’s worth so that they keep coming back to her.

Being a minimalist myself, I was surprised when she said the best package for me would be the basic package, which just so happens to carry the least monetary value of the packages she offers. I truly felt that my needs and wants were put above any personal gain she may have gotten from a sale. I didn’t feel pressured to buy or obligated. It was a truly immersive experience that I would gladly love to do again.

Sarah has experience in short film and special effects makeup artistry. She is an indepent skincare and makeup sales representative, and also the in-house Makeup Artist for Cute C Photography in Pampa.

The holidays are coming up, so if you believe that you or a loved one would benefit from or enjoy the experience, give Sarah Williams a call. She will make you feel beautiful in your own skin and make sure every product used or purchased directly benefits your own needs.

She also has pre-wrapped gifts that include products she sells that would make adorable stocking stuffers or office gifts. She even has gifts and products tailored for men.
