Betty Jean (Lawson) Cook, 81, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025.
The family will hold a private service at a later date.
Betty was born on December 9, 1943 in Mingus, Texas to James Elbert Lawson and Golda Lawson. She attended Stephenville High School in Stephenville, Texas.
Betty married Verne S. Cook on August 26, 1961 in Stephenville. They celebrated 62 years of marriage, before Verne’s passing on December 31, 2023.
Betty enjoyed playing bingo, visiting casinos, camping and traveling. She cherished spending time with her family. Betty will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Verne Cook; a beloved daughter, Kathleen Cantrell; four brothers, Doyle Lawson, Jack Lawson, Glen Lawson and Paul Lawson; one sister, Oleta Faye Music and a precious granddaughter, Carrie Harris.
She is survived by two sons, James Cook and wife Pam and Steve Cook and wife Pamela; five grandchildren, Jeff McElroy, Brandon McElroy, James Clark, Jonathan Cook and JoBeth Harris and 11 precious great grandchildren.
