Betty Jeanne Scarbrough, 76, of Pampa, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2020 in Pampa.

Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, February 29, 2020 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Byron Williamson, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Betty was born on January 5, 1944 in Arnett, Oklahoma to Elmos and Alma Decker Buckles. She attended school in Arnett, OK, where she graduated. During her high school years, she enjoyed playing basketball. She married Terry Chamberlain after graduating high school and they had one daughter, Melanie. She later attended North Western Oklahoma State University and obtained her bachelor’s degree. She later attended West Texas University and got her masters’ degree. She worked as a teacher for many years at Pampa High School. Betty also coached track and was a cheerleading sponsor during her time at PHS. She served as a student council sponsor and the assistant athletic director. After retiring from the school district, she worked as the human resources director for Pampa Regional Medical Center and later as the director of volunteers. She married Jewett Scarbrough on July 23, 1983 in Pampa. She enjoyed playing golf, reading, and walking around the neighborhood. She was a member of the First Baptist Church for several years.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Betty is survived by her husband, Jewett Scarbrough of the home; 3 daughters, Melanie Fleming and husband Alan of Midland, Robin Nelson and husband Ron of Pampa, and Melody Baker and husband Kelley of Pampa; son, Steve Scarbrough and wife Ro of Cave Creek, AZ; sister, Judy Nelson of Lake Dallas; 6 grandchildren, Jason Scarbrough, Sara Maulsby, Stephen Nelson, Stephanie Nelson, Jami Baker, and Shanna Stone; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous friends.

Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 PM Friday, February 28, 2020 at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
