Betty Tucker went to be with the Lord on February 25, 2022, at the age of 93.

Services for Betty will be at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Byron Williamson, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Betty Jean Mudd Tucker was born in Hannibal, Missouri in 1928 to Walter Lee Mudd and Essie Myrtle Mudd, the oldest of four children. She grew up in Davenport, IA and graduated from Davenport High School in 1946. Betty married WR “Bill” Tucker on February 2, 1957. They shared 46 years of marriage before his death in 2003.

In 1994, Betty retired from Pampa ISD after 25 years of service. She taught junior high Sunday School at St. Paul Methodist Church for many years. She was currently a member of the First Baptist Church. She loved to travel and took any opportunity to visit family and friends, or to go to some fun destination. Family was a priority and Betty made sure to maintain a connection with her siblings and each of her children and grandchildren. She made time for family relationships.

Betty was a talented seamstress who made clothing for herself, her daughters, and her granddaughters through the years. She loved playing games and cards with friends and family. She also enjoyed camping, cooking, and working in her yard.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill Tucker, in September of 2003; her brother, Jerry Mudd; sister-in-law Merle Mudd; and brothers in law, Ronnie Browning and Don Madden.

She is survived by her four children, Sharyn Bailey and husband Jerry of Pantego, TX, Carole Wisdom and Michael Brown of Carlsbad, CA, Dan Tucker and wife Brenda of Pampa, TX, and Randy Tucker and wife Lisa of Galveston, TX; six grandchildren, Lance Wisdom and wife Kim of Simi Valley, CA, Mark Wisdom of Sitka, AK, Tracy Bruce and husband Ryan of Pampa, TX, Mandy Clark and husband Jason of Beaumont, TX, Preston Tucker of Austin, TX, and Natalie Records and husband Ryan of Houston, TX; 11 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Evelyn Browning and Wanda Madden, both of Palmyra, MO, plus numerous nieces and nephews. She leaves behind her best friend of 45 years, Nelda Lancaster, and members of the “Lunch Bunch”, as well as many other caring friends.

The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses and caregivers from Interim Hospice who made the past several months easier.
