Boyd “Butch” Matthews, 71, of Pampa, passed away on October 23, 2022 in Amarillo.
Private services will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Butch was born on June 12, 1951 in Hobbs, NM to Jacqueline and Boyd Matthews. He grew up in Hobbs. Following college, he went to work for the Santa Fe Railroad. After his tenure with the railroad, Butch went into the commercial trucking industry.
Butch came to Texas in the 80’s and married Debra Ellis on August 4, 1986 in Andrews. They shared almost 36 years of companionship before she preceded him in death on March 2, 2022. Butch was an avid reader. He will be missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
