Calling for a peace conference

Posted

Dr. Adrian Rogers who was the pastor of Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee, wrote an article that is very current for our day. I would like to share it with you.

“America is in trouble and what America needs is a peace conference with the Prince of Peace. I believe America must be born again or we will perish.

America as founded on Christianity. The pilgrims who came to our shore in 1620 were seeking religious freedom to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. The second paragraph of the Mayflower Compact states: Having undertaken for the glory of God, and the advancement of the Christian faith, and the honor of our king and country.”

America’s government is rooted in a belief in the Almighty God. Those who drafted the Declaration of Independence believed in God and in a system of absolute truth and morality. Of the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence, nearly all were professing Christians. President George Washington was a devout Christian. Historians tell us that this man got on his knees in the snow to ask God’s blessings upon his ragtag army in Valley Forge.

President Abraham Lincoln said, “Without the assistance of the Divine Being …, I cannot succeed and with that assistance, I cannot fail.” Thomas Jefferson wrote: “The God who gave us life, gave us liberty at the same time.”

As American adhered to the principles of God’s Word, America prospered. We have had poverty, but the poor in America are rich compared with that of most people in the world. God has blessed America from sea to shining sea.

But America is teetering. We are experiencing internal danger. I do not believe that America can hold back the hand of God’s righteous intervention much longer. I believe we are ripe for God’s judgment. We have had more opportunities, blessings and preaching than any other nation. But what we have done with our blessings?

We seek peace, but we’ll not have it until we have alliance with the Prince of Peace. Would you ask God to bless America today? Pray for revival for our nation. “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from Heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land,” (2 Chronicles 7:14). Have mercy upon us Lord Jesus.
