Carol ‘Sue’ Scothorn

Carol “Sue” Scothorn, of Pampa, Texas, joyously took Jesus’ hand and followed Him to her heavenly home, Sunday, November 28, 2021, at the age of 84. She was born on August 12, 1937, to James and Lela Watson in Pratt, Kansas.

In the mid 40’s, Sue’s family moved from Pratt, KS to Jetmore, KS where she graduated from high school in 1955. Shortly following graduation, she married her one and only love, Leon “Scotty” Scothorn on June 4, 1955 (his birthday so he wouldn’t forget their anniversary) and they shared 66 wonderful years together! Sue loved to travel and throughout their marriage, they managed to travel to all 50 states except Hawaii. Some of her most memorable vacations included going camping and water skiing in her younger years, or loading up the grandkids and heading to the mountains to snow ski, but either way, she was on skis. Another of her favorite past times was snuggling up with a good book, as she could read for hours on end.

Sue absolutely loved the Lord and was an extremely devoted Christian. She volunteered unmeasurable hours to her beloved First Baptist Church family in various capacities such as the bus ministry, a greeter of visitors, serving food every Sunday in Children’s Church and handing out Thanksgiving Baskets. No matter the role, she was not afraid to jump in and help, especially for Children’s Church. She also volunteered for years at the Pregnancy Crisis Center. Sue was extremely selfless and spent her life devoted to helping others. Although she was of small stature and mostly remained quiet, her presence could certainly fill the room as she was definitely a little stick of dynamite, and she will be forever missed!

Those awaiting her arrival into eternity are her parents; sons, Eddy Scothorn, Michael Scothorn; daughter, Lisa Keough and sister, Connie Roberts.

Loved ones left behind to keep her memories alive are her husband of 66 years, Leon “Scoty” Scothorn of Pampa; son-in-law, Chris Keough of Pampa; daughter-in-law, Lydia Scothorn of Northglenn, Colorado; three grandsons, Christopher Keough and fiancé Arin Dallas of Pampa, Steven Scothorn, Sean Scothorn both of Northglenn, Colorado; a great-granddaughter, Paisley Smith; brother-in-law, Bill Roberts of Manhattan, Kansas and a host of nephews, nieces, and extended family.

Sue will be available to pay condolences on Wednesday, December 1st from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Thursday from 9:00 am until 8:00 pm and again Friday from 9:00 am until Noon at Winegeart Funeral Home.

Celebration of Life Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Friday, December 3, 2021, at First Baptist Church, 203 N. West Street, Pampa, TX with Brother Byron Williamson officiating with entombment immediately following at Memory Gardens Cemetery Mausoleum. The family has entrusted the care of their loved one to Winegeart Funeral Home.

Should donations be a preference, the family suggests they be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Panhandle, 5410 Bell Street, Amarillo, Texas 79109, in memory of Sue.
