Cecilia Bohannon 88, of White Deer, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2024 in Wellington.

Mass will be 10:00 AM Thursday, November 7, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in White Deer with Father Anthony Kowtiki, of Our Mother of Mercy Parrish in Wellington, officiating. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM Wednesday, November 6, 2024 in Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel.

Cecilia was born July 3, 1936 in White Deer to Miguel and Julia Lopez. She attended school in White Deer. On June 7, 1958, she married Arthur Bryan “Bo” Bohannon in White Deer. They celebrated over 60 years of marriage before he passed on January 2, 2019. 

Over the years she worked as a hostess and waitress for several different restaurants. Cecilia enjoyed helping and serving others. For many years, she was a caregiver for her mother and also was a babysitter for her grandchildren. Cecilia was known as “Grandma” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren who she loved deeply.

Cecilia was a devout Catholic and proud of her faith. She was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and served the church well. She loved helping where she was needed. For many years she served on the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Alter Society. She was a wonderful cook, loving to cook and serve meals to her family. Cecilia would also cook for any event at the church.

She always looked forward to going out with her lady friends to different plays or social events. She never passed up an opportunity for dancing. She could dance to anything and loved it. She was a jewelry connoisseur, she loved fine jewelry. Cecilia was always proud of her clean home; she enjoyed cleaning her house from top to bottom. She enjoyed sitting on her back porch watching tv in her later years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Joe J. Lopez, Joe R. Lopez, Efren Lopez, and Jimmy Lopez; a sister, Isabelle Isch; and son-in-law, James “Red” Maxwell.

Survivors include two daughters, Connie Maxwell of Bushland and Angie Bohannon of White Deer; son, Lloyd Bohannon and wife Dianna of Wellington; she was known as “Sissy” to two brothers, Fidel Lopez of Dumas and Johnny Lopez and wife Margaret of Irving; sister, Sister M. Dolorine of Chicago; seven grandchildren, Ara Cousins and husband Jason of Vega, Bo Bryant Bohannon and wife Samantha of Wellington, Brittni Bohannon and Chris Mills of Lubbock, Alabama Bohannon and wife Tori of Childress, Sonny Bohannon and wife Rylee of Lubbock, Bryanna Bohannon and Colt Pelfery of White Deer, and Bella Bohannon of Wellington; eight great grandchildren, Kyleigh Cousins, Landon Cousins, Kendall Cousins, Amelia Cousins, Bryce Bohannon, Ryder Bohannon, Navey Bohannon, and Kyler Bohannon.
