City Beautification - Lot Clearance Assistance Program Begins June 1st

The City of Pampa had a regular commission meeting earlier this week.

The meeting began with requests for public comments however there were none to be heard.

Next was the Quarterly Financial Dashboard presentation given by Theresa Daniels, the Finance Director for the City of Pampa.

The presentation, which was in a sideshow format, covered the end of the financial quarter, March 31st, 2023.

“Our sales taxes have come in at $ 1,367,260 and budgeted it as $3,950,00. As of that portion of it, we’ve collected 34.61 percent of sales tax revenue, which is projected to be about seven percent of an increase at this point,” Daniels said.

Shane Stokes, City Manager of Pampa, clarified the information that Daniels had presented.

“The sales tax is only 34 percent. That is because we have only received one of the quarterly payments for the year along with the monthly payments,” Stokes said. “That will catch up with it.”

“Yes. Remember, the sales tax is two months behind,” Daniels said. “We will be in November before we receive all of our September revenues for that.”

Once Daniels concluded her presentation, the City Commissioners delved into the agenda items.

One notable topic discussed in the meeting was the third agenda item: Consider adopting on the second and final reading Resolution No. R23-015, a Resolution of the City Commission approving an Economic Development Agreement between the Pampa Economic Development Corporation and the City of Pampa and a grant by the Pampa Economic Development Corporation.

The item is a grant from the EDC for $250,000 to the City of Pampa to support the beautification lot clearance program. This program will incentivize property owners to take down their dilapidated structures. The program with begin on June 1st.

The agenda items are as follows:

  • Consider approving the Minutes of the April 24, 2023, Regular Meeting and the May 1, 2023, Special Meeting. - Approved.

Consider excusing the absence of Commissioner Searl from the April 24th, 2023, Regular Meeting.  - Approved.

• Consider adopting on the second and final reading Resolution No. R23-015, a Resolution of the City Commission approving an Economic Development Agreement between the Pampa Economic Development Corporation and the City of Pampa and a grant by the Pampa Economic Development Corporation. - Approved.
