City Commission approves process for water treatment grants

The City of Pampa Commissioners approved the submission of an application to the Texas Department of Emergency Management for grant funding to install generators to support continuous operation of the City’s water and wastewater facilities.

At a meeting on Monday afternoon, Director of Public Works Gary Turley said this the first step in the process through the State’s Emergency Preparedness Plan.

“Last year the State passed the Emergency Preparedness Plan,” Turley said. “In that process, you have to identify the locations where you need emergency backup. So, we are applying for two generators.

“One will be permanently installed at one of our well sites. The other one will be mobile, but it will be mainly used for CRMWA (Canadian River Municipal Water Authority) to help them supply water to us if they lose power at one of their locations.”

The Commissioners also approved the following items:

• Approving the minutes of the April 11, 2022, Regular Commission Meeting.

• Second and final reading Ordinance No.1764, an Ordinance by the City Commission amending the revenues and the appropriations for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2021 and ending September 30, 2022.

• List of Disbursements dated March 2022.

• Professional Services Agreement with Parkhill for Engineering and Surveyor services for sidewalk reconstruction and accessibility improvements in connection with the 2019/2020 TxCDBG Community Development Program – Pampa Downtown Revitalization. This is the next step of that project so Parkhill can send bids out.
