Clarence Thomas “Tommy” Locke II

Clarence Thomas “Tommy” Locke II was born March 11, 1942, Brownfield, Texas to John T. Locke and Vivian W. Locke (Weckesser). 

Tommy went through his school years in Pampa, Texas; Horace Mann grade school, Pampa Junior High, and Pampa High School graduating in 1960. 

He excelled in track at PHS setting an, at the time, school record of 22 seconds in the 220-yard (200 meter) sprint in 1959. 

He was nominated to attend the U.S. Naval Academy but was unable to qualify because of a shoulder injury. 

He attended West Texas State College (West Texas A&M) in Canyon, Texas and Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas.

In 1963, Tommy married Sandra Kay Hogan, and they had two daughters: Deana Joe Jones and K. Stacey Gascon. 

Tommy worked most of his life in the heavy construction business along the Gulf Coast from Texas to Florida, working his way up to foreman with Brown and Root. 

In 2004, he moved back to Pampa to assist in the care of his mother and went to work for Sivalls where he worked until the end of 2020 when his health was impacted by Covid. 

Tommy was an avid reader, reading multiple books most weeks; he was very knowledgeable of U.S. and world history.

Tommy is survived by his two daughters, four granddaughters and several great grandchildren all in the Houston area. Brother, Douglas Locke of Pampa and brother John Gregory of Amarillo.

He was pre-deceased by his father, in 1985, his mother in 2010 and his grandson, Justin Montgomery in 1990.

Tommy succumbed to a long-term COPD condition on September 1, 2024. He donated his body to Texas Tech Medical School in Lubbock. 

A memory stone will be placed in the family plot at the Miami Cemetery next to his grandparents, C.T. and Lettie Rees Locke and great grandparents, Newton (N.F.) and Dora Barton Locke.
