Clarendon College CDL Program in Pampa to Help with Hurricane Helene Relief

PAMPA, Texas (KFDA) - Students and faculty with Clarendon College’s CDL program in Pampa are gearing up to assist in Hurricane Helene efforts.

The CDL program director was looking at ways to help after seeing the impact donations and supplies made during the wildfires earlier this year.

“I would like to just think that if something really bad happened here, say a horrible tornado or something like that, that people from the United States would come together for us just like we are them,” said Dana Davis, student.

The program teamed up with an organization out of Denton, Texas, and will supply the drivers and semis to deliver supplies to the areas most affected.

They currently have two semi trailers full of supplies ready to be donated.

“They’ll pick it up there and then they’ll have other areas for when you go in, other assembly halls where we will drop them off, and then they will disperse to where the needs are,” said Bill Tandy, Clarendon College CDL Program Instructor.

Tandy says this gives the students not only the opportunity to lend a helping hand, but gain driving experience before completing the program.

The program is asking for donations in order to be able to have the fuel to travel the 13 hours there and back.

If you would like to donate, you can call the Clarendon College Pampa Center at 806-665-8801.

Faculty and students plan to head out to deliver the supplies next week.
