The Gray County Commissioners Court met on Monday morning for a regularly-scheduled meeting at Gray County Courthouse.

During the meeting, the Commissioners approved Gray County Sheriff’s Office to go out for the purchase of another K-9 unit, a Belgian Malinois, after the passing of Cury, who had cancer.

“We are efforting finding a new dog and hopefully we have him out on the streets in the next month,” County Judge Chris Porter said. “Cury (Chief Deputy J.C. Skinner’s malinois) passed away. He was four years old.”

The K-9 unit the Commissioners are looking at out of South Carolina not only can sniff and bite, but can also track.

The Commissioners moved a little closer to the lease agreement for the Motorbank as they approved to enter into a contract for the lease and are in the final stages of the negotiation, but the tenant still has some hurdles they have to clear.

The Commissioners also approved designating M.K. Brown as an alternate site for court proceedings for COVID-19 contingency.

The Commissioners also approved the following items:

• Pay bills as approved by the County Auditor.

• Line Item Transfers.

• Budget Amendments.

• Approve bonds for County Attorney, Constable 1&3, County Clerk and Justice of the Peace 2&4.

• Meals on Wheels Resolution for Funding.

• County Road 9 1/2 and Berry Drive Crossing Requests in Precinct 2.

• Adult probation financial disposition.

• Replacement of a full-time position in the tax office.

• County Auditor CPE Hours.

The next Gray County Commissioners Court meeting will be on Monday, Nov. 16 at 9 a.m.
