Darel Ray Lee, 82, of McLean, passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2022 in McLean.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Hillcrest Cemetery in McLean with Rev. Thacker Haynes, pastor at First United Methodist Church of McLean, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Darel was born on December 28, 1939 in Alanreed to O.K. Lee and Maggie Lena Bearden Lee. He lived in Alanreed for a few years before his family moved to McLean where he spent his childhood. Darel was a 1958 graduate of McLean High School. He graduated as the third in the class. After high school Darel went to work for El Paso Natural Gas. While working in Jal, New Mexico Darel met Judy Pittam and the two were married on July 21, 1960. He later enlisted in the United States Army in 1960 and was honorably discharged in 1964. Following his job, Darel and Judy moved all over before settling down in McLean in 1985. He retired in 1995 after working 37 years for El Paso Natural Gas. Darel enjoyed playing gold, watching golf, and helping on the golf course in McLean. He loved to work on car engines and read Louis L’Amour books over and over again.

Darel was preceded in death by his parents O.K. and Maggie Lee; his wife, Judy Ann Lee; and 13 siblings.

He is survived by his three children, Ken Lee and wife LeAnn of Odessa; Marc Lee and wife Kathy of San Angelo; and Penny Carr and husband David of Pampa; two brothers, James Lee and Junior Lee both of Pampa; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
