Darla Jean Lowrance, 85, of Pampa, passed away on February 27, 2024 in Pampa.
Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with David Moore officiating.
Graveside service will be 2:00 PM Saturday, March 2, 2024 in Erick Cemetery in Erick, Oklahoma.
Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Darla was born January 17, 1939 in Erick, Oklahoma.
She graduated from Erick High School in 1957.
On August 16, 1963, she married Monte Lowrance at the First Baptist Church in Erick, Oklahoma. They celebrated 60 years of marriage this past August.
When they married, Darla started to work at the Air Force Base as secretary, she did that for several years before she was able to be a stay home mom.
After her children were old enough, she went to work at Washington Elementary, then to First Baptist Church in Altus, and finished her career at Weatherford Oklahoma State College.
In 2003, they made their way to Pampa.
While in Pampa, Darla became involved in Hobart Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School and also served as the director of the Adult Sunday School department.
Darla was an encourager to so many she encountered by writing poems and speaking kind words.
She loved to decorate for every holiday and event.
Darla enjoyed painting, sewing, and fishing. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandma, and friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Gail Sanders.
Survivors include her husband, Monte of the home; two daughters, Sharon Thornton and husband Richard of Pampa and Sandra Dean and husband Steve of Hinesville, Georgia; five grandchildren, Rebeca Pedrosa and husband Tommy, Noah Torres, Michael Torres and wife Kristina, Chelsea Villani and husband Luigi, and Ethan Dean; and nine great grandchildren.
