Daughters of the American Revolution meeting recap

Ending the summer break, the Las Pampas Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution is looking forward to a new year and would love to have new members join us. 

The Las Pampas Chapter and one transferring member met at the home of Secretary/ Registrar Tonya Lewis on September 2, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. Regent Omajean Lewis called the meeting to order and members participated in the D.A.R. Ritual including the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, Salute to the Texas Flag, the Daughter’s Pledge, “Preamble to the Constitution,” the American’s Creed, and the “Star- Spangled Banner.”

After the Ritual, Vice Regent Sherri Gee read of the D.A.R. President General’s Message “A Time to Rise and Shine,” LaDiana Hyatt presented the National Defense Report, Secretary Lewis read the Constitutional Minute “Why does the Constitution Limit Government,” and Regent Lewis presented the Flag Fact “One of the Most Famous Flags in Recent History is the Ima Jima Stars and Stripes.”

When Chapter business was completed, the general meeting was adjourned, and members enjoyed cheesecake and cold sodas. The program “The History of the Constitution” included a video and was presented by Secretary Lewis.

D.A.R. is a nonprofit organization that was formed October 11, 1890 and was incorporated by an Act of Congress in 1896. “Any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution” is welcome to join our local Las Pampas Chapter. D.A.R. promotes education, patriotism, and historic preservation. Help is available to anyone interested in tracing their lineage for membership.
