David Ronald Purcell, 82, of Pampa, passed away on May 10, 2022, in Pampa.

Services are pending with Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

David was born on May 3, 1940, in Fort Worth to Emma and James Purcell. David grew up and attended school in Fort Worth and he graduated from Trimble Technical School. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, proudly serving his country.

Following his discharge, David later went to work for the United States Postal Service, a career that spanned 17 years. He later moved to Pampa in 1983 with the U.S.P.S, and that is where he later met Lois Gerk, and they married on July 9, 2011, in Pampa.

David was a faithful member of both the Mary Ellen & Harvester Church of Christ and Kentucky Avenue Church of Christ. In his spare time, David liked to fish, and he really enjoyed treasure hunting and looking for relics.

Above all, David was a compassionate and giving man who gave his time and resources to help his church, Meals on Wheels, and traveling to Santa Fe, New Mexico to help with the homeless. David will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; by two sisters, Judi Purcell and Luann Webb.

David is survived by his wife, Lois Purcell of the home; a brother, Terry Purcell of Southlake; stepdaughter, Lynn Dempsey and husband Bo of Duncan, OK; step son, Don Taylor and wife Debbie of Pampa; four grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren; brother-in-law, Rick Webb of Fort Worth; nephew, Aaron Webb and wife Becky of Boyd; niece, Amy Head of Fort Worth; grandnephew, Bo Webb of Boyd; grandniece, Samantha Head of Fort Worth; a special cousin, Betty Grise of Denton.
