Dennis Kay “Mike” Waldrip, 86, of Pampa passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, January 25, 2022.

No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Dennis was born June 30, 1935 in Wilson, Texas to Dennis Samuel “Jack” and Leona Waldrip. He graduated from Tahoka High School in 1952. On September 27, 1953 he married the love of his life, Wanda Jo Sales, in Clovis, New Mexico. They lived in the Lubbock area until 1962, where he served as a police officer for the City of Lubbock for several years. After they moved from Lubbock they lived in Hereford and several other cities before making their home in Pampa in 1998. Over the years he worked in real estate and automotive service retiring in 2000 from Robert Knowles Automotive. Dennis was a member of Second Baptist Church in Amarillo, although he didn’t attend church in his later years, he remained faithful in his Christian walk. Dennis enjoyed bowling, fishing, listening to country and gospel music, and watching old western shows. He was an avid writer with poems being his preference. Dennis was a very private person and kept his circle small, but he loved his family dearly, and he will be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bill Waldrip.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Wanda Waldrip of the home; a son, Royce Waldrip and wife Belinda of Pampa; a daughter, Kathy Ely and husband Randy of Midlothian; he was PawPaw to his 3 grandchildren, Bryan Waldrip and wife Mandy of Pampa, Angela Jackson and husband Gary of Melissa, and Kendra Couch of Frisco; and 11 great grandchildren.
