Deon was born on December 12, 1941 in Shattuck, Oklahoma to Alvin Earl and Alberta May “Bert” Toellner Watson. He attended school in Fargo, Oklahoma and was a 1961 graduate of Fargo High School. After graduating, Deon, attended Okmulgee Trade School. Deon worked in Houston for Brown and Root Industrial Services at mechanical draftsman. He moved to Pampa in the late 60’s and began working for Cabot-Machinery-Varco-IRI, where he worked for 34 years until his retirement. Deon was drafted into the Army Reserves, where he was stationed at Fort Sill. During his time in the military, Deon trained the soldiers that were sent to Vietnam. In December of 1972, Deon met Sherry Washington. They were married on April 14, 1973 in Pampa. Deon enjoyed working with his hands. He liked to farm, work on cars, and build all sorts of things. Deon was certainly a jack of all trades, if someone needed a part to complete a project, you could bet that he had whatever part they needed in his shed. He was baptized at the First Christian Church, now Hillside Christian, where he continued his membership until his passing.

Deon was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry Watson of the home; one son, Ryan Watson and wife Rachel of Dumfries, Virginia; one daughter, Michelle Watson of Canyon; one sister, Ladena Pierce of Amarillo; one brother-in-law, Tommy Washington and wife Tracy of Pampa; one grandson, Lincoln Watson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
