Don left us on October 31, 2022, to be with his Lord in Heaven. Don was born in Youngstown Ohio on December 22, 1957. He arrived in California during the summer of 1975. He was only 18 years old at the time and went to work at Arby’s owned by a friend Chuck Rand. He worked various jobs but his first love was motorcycles, so he went to Phoenix for 2 years and studied motorcycle technology. He came back to California and worked at various custom shops. He then became a certified Harley-Davidson mechanic. He started his own shop in Long Beach around 1999 and called it Port’s Custom Cycle Garage. He ran the Garage till his passing.
He was preceded in death by his mother and step brother.
Don is survived by one son Jesse, who is also a mechanic. His father Carl E. Port, step mother Judy Port and step sister Colleen Valingo of Pampa Tx, his sister and husband Diana and Jeff Statom, nephew Michael Statom of Huntington Beach, and numerous aunts’ uncles’ nieces and nephews in California and Ohio.
