Doris Guyton-Stillwell

Doris Guyton-Stillwell, 80, of Pampa, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, in Pampa with her family by her side.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Hillcrest Cemetery in McLean, Texas with a pastor from McLean, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Doris was born on February 8, 1942, in Watonga, Oklahoma. She grew up in Watonga and graduated high school in 1960. Right after high school, she married Frederick H. Pitt and moved to San Antonio. The two had two sons, Fred and Eddie. Frederick was in the military, so the family moved to several different during his career. From San Antonio, they moved to Paris, France, then back to San Antonio, and later, South Carolina. Doris and her boys eventually moved to Fort Worth. There she worked in a nursing home for many years. In 1968, she met and later married Paul Guyton. The family moved to McLean where Paul operated a gas station and Doris stay at home to take care of the children. She also worked as a special education teacher for short time at McLean High School. Paul preceded Doris in death on December 13, 1983. In 1991, Doris married Vernon Stillwell of McLean. They lived in McLean together for many years until moving to Pampa in 2009.

Doris was a collector of many things. From antiques to newspapers, she had a little bit of everything. Doris was an excellent mother and wife. She loved her family dearly and loved every minute of her time with them. She will be greatly missed.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers. 

She is survived by her husband, Vernon Stillwell of the home; three sons, Fred Pitt of Pampa, Eddie Pitt of Amarillo, and Zach Stillwell of Amarillo; two daughters, Verna Gregory of Blackwell, Oklahoma, and Pam Fike of Edmond, Oklahoma; and one granddaughter.
