DPS violent crime suppression joint task force results in multiple arrests

AMARILLO – On August 26 and 27, Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Special Agents, Troopers and canine handlers conducted a joint operation with Swisher County Sheriff’s office and Tulia Police Department. The operation targeted violent crime in Swisher and Collingsworth Counties. As a result of the collaborative effort, 8 people were arrested for the following crimes:

· 2 Arrests – Possession of controlled substance PG1 >=4grams < 200grams

· 1 Arrest – Possession of controlled substance PG1 >=4 grams < 200 grams; Evading arrest on foot and resisting arrest.

· 1 Arrest – Possession of controlled substance PG2 >=4 grams < 200 grams

· 1 Arrest – Fail to register as sex offender

During the operation, fugitive arrests were made on the following warrants:

· 1 Arrest – Intoxication assault

· 1 Arrest – Robbery

· 1 Arrest – Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon
