Dr. Gerald Dale Strate, 74, went home to be with Jesus on January 4, 2022 at his home.

Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. Byron Williamson, pastor of First Baptist Church in Pampa, officiating. Inurnment will be at the Ochiltree Cemetery in Perryton, Texas at a later date. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory. The funeral service will be livestreamed through the funeral home website.

Viewing will be 10:00 AM-8:00 PM Thursday and 8:00 AM -8:00 PM Friday.

Gerald was born January 15, 1947 to Glen E. Strate and Clesta Faith Strate (Firestone) in Lyons Kansas.  Gerald and his wife, of 44 years, were united in marriage August 4, 1978 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  Gerald accepted Jesus as his savior as a young man and was baptized in March of 1975 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Perryton. Gerald attended grade school at Straight Oklahoma and then attended Guymon High School and graduated from Guymon High School in 1965. Gerald went on to college graduating from Oklahoma Panhandle State University with a degree in chemistry in 1970 then on to Southwestern Oklahoma State University at Weatherford Oklahoma and graduated with a degree in pharmacy in 1975. He worked as a pharmacist in the states of Oklahoma and Texas until his retirement on February 11, 2016.

He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Janice of the home; son, Kurt Pounds and wife Dorothea of Colorado Springs, Colorado; daughter, DeLisa Oats and husband Graham of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; daughter,  Zee Webster and husband Matthew of Norman, Oklahoma; and daughter, Kim Felix and husband Adam of Norman, Oklahoma; one brother, Garland Strate and wife Debbie of Amarillo; 4 sisters, Glendena Snowbarger and husband Rev. Danny Snowbarger of Olathe Kansas, Vonie Dawes and husband Bill of Guymon, Oklahoma, Lavoana Martinez and husband Lucas of Guymon, Oklahoma and Toni Hall and husband Michael of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; and 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
