Edward Clausine Robinson

Edward Clausine Robinson, “Hamburger Ed”, went to his eternal home on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Being the baby of three children, Ed made his grand debut on April 5, 1942 to Robert and Kathleen Robinson in Locust Grove, Oklahoma where he and his two older sisters, Roberta and Barbara Sue grew up. From the time he was a youngster, he was on a horse, and many in the small town of Locust Grove remember him riding his pony around the town.

He spent some time in southern Idaho as a young boy and teenager before moving to Pacifica, California in 10th grade. Ed and his future wife, Carolann were part of the first graduating class of Westmoor High School, Daly City, CA in 1960. After marrying Carolann on June 4, 1961, they made their way to Vacaville, CA where Ed worked for Safeway. While there, they welcomed two sons, Wade in 1963 and Scott in 1966. Later, Ed ventured on to Bartlesville, OK and made history – in 1978 he opened the first Chinese restaurant in north-east Oklahoma.

His love for horses led him to travel from far to yon with the racetrack circuit. He not only owned but also trained horses for many years. However, in 1983, Ed received a phone call no parent wants to receive regarding an accident. Since he was currently on the road back to Claremont following a race, he left his horses in Pampa with friends to fly to his sons’ aid. Upon returning to Pampa to retrieve his horses, he happened upon a gas station, decided to buy it and the rest is history! Shortly thereafter, in 1986, he met Christy Oxley and her three kids, Whitney, Sarah and Farrah. After a long courtship, Ed and Christy married, raised their family, and ran the Hamburger Station until his homegoing.

For more than 20 years, he was an active member of the Top O’ Texas Rodeo Association and he attended Somerville Church of Christ. Ed loved all people and most generally, all people loved him right back! He was certainly an outstanding member of the community. Hamburger Ed’s legendary “Hello, how are ya?” welcoming customers on in, to order breakfast or lunch will be terribly missed by so many.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Barbara Sue Cooper; mother-in-law, Joyce Hunter and a grandson, Yancie McCuistion.

Ed leaves behind to carry out his legacy, his wife, Christy Robinson of Pampa; sons, Wade Robinson & wife Kristie of California, Scott Robinson of California, Whitney Oxley and wife Courtney of Pampa; daughters, Farrah McCuistion of Colorado, Sarah Doucette and husband Chris of Pampa; sister, Roberta Chance of Oklahoma; grandchildren, Luke, Faith, Seth, Sara, Ethan & Berklee Robinson, Lacie, Ethan, Braydon & Quinn Oxley, Haven & Pratt Doucette, Chaney & Crowley McCuistion and 1 great grandson, Lincoln Oxley.

The public will have the opportunity to pay respects on Friday evening, November 13th from 5 to 8 pm; Saturday from 9 to 8 pm; Sunday from 1 to 8 pm; Monday from 9 to 5 pm at Winegeart Funeral Home. A Visitation will take place Monday night from 6 to 8 pm at Briarwood Church, 1800 W. Harvester Ave.

Celebration of Life Funeral Services are scheduled for 2 pm, Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at Briarwood Church with Pastor Wade Robinson, Ed’s son, officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family has entrusted the care of their loved one to Winegeart Funeral Home.
