Elouise (Gentry) Hughes, 89, of Guthrie, Oklahoma went home to be with the Lord March 17, 2022. She was born February 15, 1933 in Many, Louisiana to Henry Wilkins and Easter Nina Gentry.

Elouise married Willie B. Hughes in December of 1949 in Pampa, Texas. They established a home in Pampa. Willie B. worked for and retired from the Texas Highway Dept. Elouise worked at Miller Hood Pharmacy and at Bob Clements Cleaners for many years. She was an amazing cook, homemaker, enjoyed entertaining and serving family and friends. Over the years, many people benefited from her tireless gift of giving of herself at First Baptist Church of Pampa in many departments, which she loved doing.

Elouise is preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers, 1 sister, and great-great-granddaughter, Avery Elouise.

Elouise is survived by Linda Kay Salyer and husband, Scott (Chief) Burris, of Guthrie; Rebecca Gail Nelson and husband, Stephen Nelson of Plano, Texas; Steven Lynn Hughes and wife, Debbie Lynn Hughes, of Waskom, Texas; Karen Denise Hughes of Pampa, Texas; and sister, Edith Maxine Malone.

Elouise was known as Mema to ten grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren & two great-great- grandchildren.

She will be greatly missed by her many friends and extended family.

Graveside services will be held at a later date in Pampa, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, 220 North 1st St., Guthrie, Oklahoma 73044.

Elouise truly loved her church family at Lakeview Baptist Church.
