Panhandle Plains Region Week of May 17, 2023

Alan Henry

FAIR. Water clear; 72 degrees; 11.81 feet below pool. Crappie are scattered everywhere hitting minnows. Report by Bait Kandy Corp. Crappie are good in all stages of the spawn from 2-28 feet of water with minnows. Report by Randy Britton, Lake Alan Henry Crappie Guide.

Arrowhead

GOOD. Water lightly stained; 75 degrees; 5.61 feet below pool. Catfish are good caught in deeper water drifting with fresh cut shad. Crappie are good at the state park piers and bridges. Report by Brandon Brown, Brown’s Guide Service.

Greenbelt

SLOW. Water stained; 55 degrees; 45.98 feet below pool. Few reports due to few anglers on the water.

Hubbard Creek

FAIR. Water Stained; 77 degrees; 8.28 feet below pool. Bass and crappie are in a post spawn pattern pushing offshore to brush piles. If you can find hydrilla there should be bass biting on soft plastics, or topwaters. Crappie can be caught on minnows or jigs. White bass should be schooling on wind blown humps. Blue catfish can be caught on trotlines and juglines.

Meredith

GOOD-. Water stained; 65-68 degrees; 55.54 feet below pool. Spring fishing patterns are holding steady. Bass are excellent on minnows and artificials. Catfish are good on chicken liver, minnows and frozen shad. Crappie are fair to good on jigs and minnows. White bass are excellent on minnows, and jig heads with a curly tailed grub. Trout are fair to slow on minnows, power baits, worms, small spinners and flies. Walleye are good to excellent on crankbaits, minnows and artificials. Hope this helps you enjoy Lake Meredith. Millers Creek

GOOD. Water stained; 65 degrees; 6.19 feet below pool. Bass are in all stages of the spawn. Crappie are fair on standing timber and brush piles with minnows or small jigs. Catfish are fair on cut baits and cheese bait. White bass are good on roadrunners and slabs.

O.H. Ivie

GOOD. Water stained; 78 degrees; 25.09 feet below pool. Largemouth bass are good using soft plastics. White bass are fair with live bait and crankbaits. Crappie good using minnows. Catfish are good on live bait. Report by Concho Park and Marina.

Possum Kingdom

GOOD. Water clear; 75-78 degrees; 5.45 feet below pool. Striped bass fishing is on fire. Live bait is the preferred bait, but a few can be caught trolling artificial baits. Look for fish in 10-50 feet of water, but be aware they are moving and not hanging around long. Sand bass are fair in 2-25 feet of water casting small jigs and rattletraps in shallow water early in the morning seems to produce the most fish. Catfish are fair in 20-40 feet of water using cut or small live shad. They are gearing up to spawn. Water clarity is 5-15 feet, depending on location. Report by TJ Ranft, Ranft Guide Service.

Stamford

GOOD. Water stained; 75 degrees; 3.63 feet below pool. Crappie are good in shallow water with jigs or minnows. Bass are good in the shallows hitting minnows and soft plastics. Catfish are good on jug lines on the main lake. Report by Anchor Marina.
