Five Buffs, Pampa’s Engle included, named ABCA/Rawlings All-South Central Region

CANYON Texas – Five members of the West Texas A&M Buffaloes were honored for their efforts on the diamond on Wednesday morning as they were named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-South Central Region Team.

Seniors Mathieu Gauthier and Carter Brown were named to the First Team while Keone Givens, Cade Engle and Todd Danzeisen were tabbed Second Team honorees.

ABCA/Rawlings All-Region first-team selections are nominated for ABCA/Rawlings All-America honors. The ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division II All-Americans will be announced on Friday, June 4. The ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams for all divisions will be announced Wednesday, June 23.

Colorado Mesa’s Haydn McGeary was named the ABCA Regional Player of the Year while CMU teammate Andrew Morris was tabbed the region’s Pitcher of the Year.

The ABCA All-America team was first recognized in 1949 and now includes nine divisions: NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA Divisions I, II and III, Pacific Association Division, and high school. ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams were first recognized in 2007.
