Gib Winton, 85, of Pampa, passed away on February 2, 2022, in Amarillo.

Celebration of Life services will be 2:00 PM, Monday, February 7, 2022, at the Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Pastor Terry Simmons of the First Baptist Church of Cotton Center, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM at the funeral home on Sunday.

Gib was born on July 27, 1936, in Pontotoc, Oklahoma to Watt and Bessie Winton. He grew up, attended, and graduated in Pontotoc. After graduating, he entered the workforce and began his career in the oil and gas industry. Gib came to Pampa in the mid 1950’s to continue working in the oilfield. While in Pampa, he met Mary Condo and it was love at first sight. They later married on July 5, 1957, and they shared almost 64 great years before Mary preceded him in death on June 7, 2021.

As a younger man, he was an athletic man who excelled in a lot of different sports and his love of sports continued when he helped coach his children, grandchildren, and being a longtime member of the Optimist Club. Gib was as high energy man and when he retired from Oil & Gas and only after two years of retirement, he went to work for the Pampa Independent School District in the transportation department. A career that he had a lot of pride in, and it allowed him to stay connected with all the youth sports. Gib was also a longtime member and a former director of the Top of Texas rodeo association, a member of the Masonic Lodge #966, and several other organizations. Gib was a member of First Baptist Church of Pampa. He liked the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Gib was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include a son, Joe Winton and partner DeNelda Burke of Pampa; daughter, Kandy Dull and husband Allen of Pampa; grandchildren, Shanda Winton, Ashley Pratt and husband Dustin, Miles Winton, Collin Dull, and MacKenzie Dull and boyfriend Mark Marrufo; great grandchildren, Stella Thompson, Jessie Thompson, Cash Pratt, Reed Pratt, and Lincoln Winton; a sister, Margie Berrie of Fittstown, OK; two brothers, Gerald Winton of Oklahoma City,OK, and Billie Winton and wife Katie of Washington, OK; 2 sisters-in-law, Doris Mimms of Austin and Brenda Condo of Pampa; plus numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
