Delete Dents has been a family-owned and operated business here in town. Wendell Shults, whose work in a body shop extends over 50 years, began Delete Dents 23 years ago. For the majority of the companies’ time open, Wendell worked another job, while still operating Delete Dents on the side.

“I’ve been doing bodywork for 50 years, and 23 with my own family-operated business,” Wendell Shults said. “We do paint-less dent repairs among other things, and I’ve been doing this since I was seven years old.”

The oldest daughter of the two, Madi Thompson joined her father in working for the family company after leaving her position as a teacher for Pampa High School.

“My younger sister and I both grew up working with dad,” Madi said. “On weekends or when I’d be home for college breaks, I’d be working alongside him. So a few years ago he told me to quit my job and come work with him. I wasn’t sure how serious he was, but he was serious about his offer and I’ve been working here with my dad ever since.”

The company started in 2000 when Madi was seven years old, a full circle moment for Wendell who’d started out doing the line of work when he was seven alongside his father.

Wendell’s father owned and operated ‘Ray’s Body Shop’ for 25 years before retiring.

The offer to join the company that was extended to Madi came after Wendell hung up his hat at his other jobs three years ago.

“The offer was a joke, that she took seriously,” Charla Shults said. “She called me the next day and said ‘was he serious’ and I told her, well maybe you should talk to him. That’s all she wrote, not long after Madi came and joined us. She has been a huge asset for us, she has brought a whole new level to what we do.”

Madi works as the Admin over research on vehicles or any technical side of the company, while Wendell is the man doing the physical work for the most part.

“It’s so different now, with new cars there are so many new features to it that we have to make sure we correct accurately,” Madi said. “With the new cars, there are so many new safety features that are on cars. Like for instance, the rear bumper systems or the blind spot monitors, there’s a lot of research that has to go into those to make sure when we recalibrate, it’s how it’s supposed to be. We stand behind our quality of work. After you pick your car up from us, you’ve entrusted that everything is good to go, so our main priority is making sure everything works as it should.”

Delete Dents, is more than just the name. Offering all services collision related, from dents removal to repair a car after a wreck.

“We do just about everything,” Wendell said. “The only thing we don’t do is the heavy mechanical side of things. We are a body shop, like any other body shop you’d take your car to get repaired. We are a full collision shop.”

Shults was the only PDR (Paintless Dent Repair) for numerous years, there are a few now, but Delete Dents still stands strong in its services.

“I worked other jobs, doing similar work for companies,” Wendell said. “But through all of that, I continued with my work here. It was part-time up until two years ago when I decided I wanted to do this full-time.”

Delete Dents serves the entire high plains and beyond.

“We have people bring their cars to be worked on to us from Dumas, College Station, and Forth Worth,” Wendell said. “We get work from Memphis, Clarendon. The entire high plains and beyond.”

The company operates from the home of Wendell and Charla Shults, but there are expansion plans to grow the business.

“We bought land on 23rd and plan to build a new facility there,” Wendell said. “We are waiting for the right time, with the state of the world and other things. So there are plans, but we are waiting until the right time to get into that.”

“We are waiting until God tells us it’s time,” Charla said. “We have the space ready to go, but until we feel it’s time, we aren’t starting on anything.”

The company has a Facebook account with examples of previous work and points of contact. The best way to get in touch is either through Facebook, or by contacting the shop at (806) 663-1842 the shop is open Monday through Friday 9-6.
