It’s About Time: Pampa’s Newest Locally Owned Business

Posted

It’s About Time is Pampa’s newest local collectable and consignment store housing the collections and creations of sixteen of Pampa’s very own vendors.

Carla Johnson is excited to start her new journey in providing the community with a new place to do some local shopping while in turn helping other entrepreneurs get their products out to the public.

From brand new baby clothes to antiques, along with the largest selection of handmade jewelry in Pampa and an enormous amount of other inventory, It’s About Time will have something you didn’t even know you were looking for and one trip around the store just won’t be enough.

During Carla’s years as a geriatric nurse and a healthcare worker for Interim Home Health and Hospice, many of the families of her patients were unsure of what to do with all the items their loved ones had accumulated over the years.

With a deep reverance and appreciation for vintage and antique collectables, Carla found the perfect way to keep those heirlooms from gathering dust in the attic.

Originally opening the store in Borger, Carla knew exactly what type of business it would be and the inspiration for the name, as well as its theme, came directly from her faith.

“This is called It’s About Time because that’s the name the Lord gave me two years ago when I opened,” Carla said. “It’s based on Ecclesiastes 3:1, ‘so there’s a time and a season for everything under the sun.’ So you look around and there’s old stuff and vintage stuff, new baby clothes and a crib here, so it’s just where you are in time and there’s just something for everybody here.”

“I’ve always loved history and listening to my grandparents and great-grandparents tell stories-I learned that my great-grandfather’s father was one of the first settlers in Panhandle, the Meakers. I’ve always just loved old stuff and so I kind of started dabbling in it while I was working and I had a booth downtown and I just loved it. When I decided to do something different, the Lord just started opening doors for us to do that.”

It’s About Time will be having its grand opening this Saturday with free burgers and hot dogs for the first 25 customers who buy anything from the store as a way to show her appreciation for the support shown by the community.

Carla also is showing her appreciation for the vendors that decided to put their trust in her and the store by offering for every item sold from their booth will be $1 knocked off their rent.

“It’s just a way to say thank you to them. This isn’t just my store, it’s their business too.”
