Johnnie E. Marx, 77, of Pampa, gained her angel wings on Friday, January 21, 2022.
Services will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Ken McIntosh, interim pastor, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Johnnie was born on April 10, 1944 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to Woody and Sybil Warren McConnell. She was an only child. Johnnie graduated from Tulsa Central High School in 1962. She worked for National Trailer Convoy as a data processor before moving to Pampa in 1964 to work for Cabot in data processing. Johnnie retired from IRI International in 1999 as inventory data control supervisor. She married Bob Marx on May 27, 1982. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Her many hobbies included bird hunting, salt and freshwater fishing, bowling, playing poker, traveling, and most definitely golf. She was a great cook and loved to entertain friends before her massive stroke in November of 2011. After her stroke, she accomplished many things that amazed a multitude of her friends. Many thought she would never be able to, but she proved them wrong. She always had a smile on her face and was a happy person through all that life dealt her. She was quite a fighter through the last ten years and two and a half months. She kept her faith and attended church when she was able. Her pride and joys were her restored corvette, her husband, their cat, Sandtrap, and their dogs, Reba and Sophie.
Johnnie was preceded in death by her parents; her father and mother-in-law; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and one goddaughter.
She is survived by her loving husband Bob; her adorable fur baby, Sophie; her close friends, the five Howard girls and their children, spouses, and grandchildren. Johnnie was also blessed with seven godchildren; 13 great-godchildren; three great-great godchildren; and three church grandchildren.
