June was born on June 21, 1929, in Childress, Texas to Joseph and Wanda Winborne. Her family moved to Pampa when she was young, and she attended school in Pampa. She graduated from Pampa High School in 1947. After she graduated, she married Chester Tackett. Together, the couple moved around for his work, living in several towns across the panhandle. The two grew apart later on, but June found love again when she met and married Ed Lowrance. They lived in White Deer so their son could play football for White Deer High School. June worked for the Marie Foundation in Pampa, starting in the 1960s and worked there until they closed in the 1970s. She later worked at both JoAnn’s Fabric and Sand’s Fabric in Pampa until she retired in the mid-1990s.

June loved sewing clothes for her family. She made prom dresses, Easter outfits, and much more. June also enjoyed going to the lake as often as possible. There, she would camp, water ski, and drive the boat. She was the best one to pull the ones skiing and riding on the innertube. June also loved her family. She spent as much time as she could with her grandkids and great-grandkids. June would cook for the entire family and was glad to do it.

June is preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Ed Lowrance and Gordon Ruthart; a daughter, Rahna Abernathy; a son, Richard Lowrance; granddaughter, Kimberly Ann Barbee; great-grandson, Cameron Shea Barbee; five sisters; and six brothers.
