A Kentucky man was killed in a single-vehicle crash five miles outside of McLean Sunday evening in rain-freezing rain/ice conditions.

At 7:40 p.m. on Sunday, Billy Hardin, 51, Owingsville, Ky. was driving a 2014 Kenworth truck-tractor towing a semi-trailer five miles east of McLean on Interstate 40.

Texas Highway Patrol said that for an unknown reason, the driver of the truck tractor/semi-trailer struck the concrete barriers on both the north and south side of the overpass before crashing through the metal guardrail.

The truck then rolled over multiple times down an embankment and came to a rest on its wheels in the grassy area between I-40 and the service road on the south side of I-40.

The passenger, Sheila Conrad, 32, Owingsville, Ky., was in the sleeper at the time of the crash.

Hardin was pronounced deceased at the scene by Gray County Justice of the Peace, Connie Ogle.

The crash remains under investigation by Texas DPS.  Information may change, be corrected, or added based on the investigators findings.
