The Pampa Lady Harvesters came from behind Friday to defeat the Randall Lady Raiders in a good old fashion pitching dual by a score of 3-2. With the win Pampa improves to 2-0 in district 4-4A play and in a tie for first place with the 2-0 Dumas Demonettes.

Randall would get on the board first in the top of the third inning, but Pampa would answer in the bottom of the inning. With one out, McKinley Daniels doubled, and took third base on a wild pitch. Carsyn Hunt drew a walk, and then Brianna Cloud hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Daniels from third.

In the top of the fourth, Randall would take a 2-1 lead. However, in the bottom of the sixth inning Pampa would come back with two runs. Kynleigh Kirby drew a lead off walk and then Hallie Hawthorne would a deep fly to right field that barely landed fair for a triple, scoring Kirby from first base. Cambree Dyer would then score Hawthorne on a ground ball to second base, giving Pampa a 3-2 lead going into the last inning.

The win would not come easy, however for the Lady Harvesters. With one out, Randall would get back to back singles putting runners on first and second base. But a fly out and a strike out would end the game giving Pampa the win over Randall.

Kynleigh Kirby once again went the distance, pitching seven innings, giving up two runs and eight hits, walking six and striking out six batters. Randall left twelve runners on base during the contest.

Defensively for Pampa, there were several notable plays, In the second inning, Reagan Dyer threw a runner out from center field, trying to advance to third base. In the top of the sixth, and runners at first and second base and no outs, Hawthorne scooped up a ground ball, stepped on third to get the lead runner and threw to first for a double play. In the top of the seventh and runners at first and second base, Hunt made an over the shoulder catch for the second out. Cassidy Stanhope made two good tough catches on pop ups at shortstop and McKinley Daniels made several good catches in right field for Pampa, and Dyer made a couple of good catches in center field. First baseman, Maecie Hawthorne, made a nice dig at first to keep a ball from going into right field in the seventh inning as well.

Speaking about the win, head Coach Dottie Hawthorne said, “I am proud of the girls for coming out on fire and working together as a team to get the win”.

Pampa will play at Hereford Tuesday at noon and will host Perryton at home on Wednesday at noon.
