Lady Harvesters fall in hard-fought match with Canyon

The Pampa Lady Harvesters (21-13, 2-3) wrapped up the first round of District play on Saturday, hosting the Canyon Lady Eagles. The Lady Harvesters took the first set, but lost the next three in a hard-fought contest (17-25, 25-23, 25-15, 25-22). “I think it was momentum. Momentum is a powerful thing. They came in and played with a lot of energy and a lot of momentum,” Head Coach Kaylee Samulowitz said. “Our game-plan was to start strong, be aggressive on offense, serve aggressively and we did all that in Set 1 and it worked. We carried that into the second set, had a big lead and just got a little bit complacent. They found their energy and we never did anything to stop it. I feel like they wanted it a little bit more and we didn’t respond to when they found their momentum.” The Lady Harvesters return to action Tuesday when they host Dumas. “(We have to have) short-term memory. We get today to be mad about it, myself included, and then we have to move on. Our goal is to go deep and see Canyon in the second round and finish in third. That gives us a better look in the playoffs. We have to take care of business and get that third-place spot.” Stat
