Lady Harvesters go 2-2 in Lubbock

The Pampa Lady Harvesters softball team competed in Lubbock this past weekend, going 2-2 for the tournament. Saturday’s games were cancelled due to the weather.

On Thursday, Pampa faced off against Lubbock Cooper. Cooper would win the game by a score of 8-1. Getting hits for Pampa were Carsyn Hunt, Hallie Hawthorne and Kassie Arnzen.

Thursday night, Pampa would face off against El Paso Ysleta. Pampa held an 8-4 lead going into the bottom of the last inning, but Ysleta would score 6 runs to win the game by a score of 10-8. Hallie Hawthorne and Cassidy Stanhope had 2 hits for Pampa, while Brianna Cloud, Kynleigh Kirby, Maecie Hawthorne and Ytzel Zamudio added one hit each.

On Friday, Pampa would face off against another 5A team in the Plainview Bulldogs. This was all Pampa, as Pampa would by a score of 7-0. Kynleigh Kirby had 2 hits for Pampa, while Carsyn Hunt, Brianna Cloud, Maecie Hawthorne and Reagan Dyer added one hit each. Kirby pitched 5 innings, giving up no runs on 2 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 2.

Friday night, Pampa would face off against 6A Midland Legacy. Pampa would jump out to a 9-0 lead and hang on for a hard-fought 9-7 victory. Brianna Cloud, Maecie Hawthorne, Reagan Dyer and Cassidy Stanhope had 2 hits each for Pampa, while Carsyn Hunt Hallie Hawthorne and Karina Gonzalez added one hit each. One of Stanhope’s hits was a 3-run home run. Hallie Hawthorne pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up 6 runs on 9 hits, striking out 1 and walking none. Kirby pitched the final 2/3 innings, giving up 1 run , on 1 hit, striking out 1 and walking 1.

Pampa improved their season record to 3-2.

The team will travel to San Angelo this Friday and Saturday to compete in the final tournament of the season. Pampa will face off against San Angelo Central, Fort Worth Chisholm Trail and Lubbock High on Friday, with bracket play starting on Saturday.
