The Pampa Lady Harvesters volleyball program wrapped up their 2021 season and celebrated the good times with a banquet on Thursday night.
“A lot of people assumed we were a very experienced team because we were very junior-heavy,” Head Coach Kaylee Samulowitz said. “But in reality, most of our team coming into this season were very inexperienced and we struggled with injury after injury.
“I think we ran probably 10 different lineups, which is bizarre. But we won a couple of gold balls and I think by anyone’s standards that’s a very successful season. But, even better than that I think we continued to improve throughout the season.”
Samulowitz talked about some of her favorite memories including tournament season and the thrift store dinner.
“We were at the Frenship Tournament and the girls were just like, ‘Let’s go thrifting.’,” Samulowitz said. “We went to a thrift store and the girls got a partner, chose what they wanted them to wear and we wore them and went out to dinner.”
Samulowitz added it’s great that the good memories are from the off-the-court activities, not from games and practices.
“No team is perfect and we had our ups and downs,” Samulowitz said. “But they worked really hard to create a positive environment on-and-off the court.”
The Lady Harvesters had one senior, Haley Fossett, and Samulowitz thanked her for her hard work.
The attention then shifted to the awards.
