Lady Harvesters Softball Team Wins Concho Classic Tournament in San Angelo

The Pampa Lady Harvester Softball team travelled to San Angelo for the annual Concho Classic this week and won the Gold bracket Championship with a perfect 4-0 record.

On Friday Pampa would face off against the host team, San Angelo Central out of District 2-6A.   Pampa would score two runs in the 2nd inning and then score six runs in the third to defeat the host team by a score of 8-1. Sophomore, Carsyn Hunt went 3-3 at the plate, with 2 singles and a triple and three RBI’s to lead the team. Junior Kynleigh Kirby added two hits and an RBI, Mckinley Daniels added two hits and an RBI and Sophomore, Brianna Cloud added a double and an RBI.

Kirby went the distance in the circle pitching four innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out three and surrendering no walks.

Later that afternoon, Pampa would face off against Fort Worth Chisholm Trail, out of District 3-6A and this was all Pampa from the start.  Pampa would score twelve runs in the top of the first and eventually would win by a score of 15-2. Hunt, Cloud, Kirby and Cambree Dyer each had two hits for the Lady Harvesters. Hallie Hawthorne, Cassidy Stanhope and Reagan Dyer would add one hit a piece. Cambree Dyer had four RBI’s to lead the team.

Hallie Hawthorne went the distance in the circle pitching two innings, allowing two runs on four hits, striking out two and walking one.

Pampa would then face off against Lubbock High, out of district 4-5A.  Pampa would win a tight one, hanging on to win by a score of 2-0.  Hunt and Mckinley Daniels led the team with two hits each. Kirby would add a double and an RBI for the Lady Harvesters.

Hallie Hawthorne pitched two and a third innings, giving up no runs on three hits, striking out three and walking none.  Kirby would finish the game, pitching one and two thirds innings, giving up no runs on no hits, and walking one.

In bracket play on Saturday, Pampa was scheduled to play Little Elm, out of district 5-6A.  However, Little Elm ended up forfeiting the game because they felt the field was unsafe due to a small amount of drizzle that was falling.

With the forfeit, Pampa would advance to Championship game against Midland Greenwood, out of district 3-4A, which was the other number one seed from the other pool.  Pampa would once again use a hot start by scoring four runs in the first inning.  Pampa would add two runs in the second and one run in the third to win the championship by a score of 7-0.

Kirby led the team with two hits.  Hunt, Cloud, Cambree Dyer and Reagan Dyer would add one hit a piece.  Cassidy Stanhope would add two RBI’s for the Lady Harvesters.

In the circle it was another dominating performance by Kirby.  Kirby went four innings, giving up no runs and three hits, striking out five and walking two.

With the win the Lady Harvesters improve their record to 7-2.  Pampa will face off against the Caprock Lady Longhorns on Tuesday and then will begin their District season on March 7th in Amarillo to take on West Plains.
