The Pampa Salvation Army is doing the last of their annual Angel Tree sign-ups this week on October 18 and October 19.
Shelby Huff of the Salvation Army says that the amount of children enrolled so far don’t even hit the half-way mark of the amunt of kids who enrolled in the program last year.
“We will have sign-ups on Wednesday, October 18 from 10 am until 2 pm and on Thursday, October 19 from 3 pm until 7pm here at our office located at 801 N. Sumner,” Huff said.
“This will be the last sign-up for the year. We’ll be putting them (angels) out on November 1.”
“Unfortunately, we’re only halfway to where we were last year. So I don’t know if that’s a good thing or not. Maybe people are not needing Christmas gifts, but I doubt that’s the case. So we are pushing for registration. Right now, we have little over 80 kiddos enrolled. Last year we had right over 200. We really need more angels. We want to bless them.”
The Salvation is also gearing up for their annual food drive.
“We’re working on partnerships right now for our food drive, but our goal is to provide the food boxes again,” Huff said.
