Mr. Conner was born on October 18, 1937 in Pampa, to Frank and Mary Conner. Joe grew up and attended school in Pampa, making many long-time friends. He served in the Marines for 3 years and then the Army for another 3 years, spending time in North Carolina and in Germany. Joe married Dean Morris on March 28, 1964. She preceded him in death on May 20, 2010. He worked as a roughneck and a tile setter in the Panhandle before going to work as an air traffic controller in Arlington. With this job his family lived in Puerto Rico and Alaska for a time. Joe has been in Pampa for the last 17 years, where he cared for his wife and his father before their deaths.

Joe was baptized as a young teenager and loved his God deeply. He had faith, just like his parents, that carried him through many hard times. Joe talked with God a lot and always knew His presence was there. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Joe was generous, caring, fun, and talented. He could always make you feel special and make you laugh.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his niece, Julie Whaley.

Joe is survived by his son, Barry Conner and wife Penny of San Leon; two brothers, Richard Conner and wife Pat of Allen and Jim Conner of Pampa; sister, Donna Eller and husband Tim of Missouri City; grandson, Garrett Conner and wife Lyndsey of McKinney; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
