Lil Harvesters take on the Metroplex

A group of Pampa youths participated in a flag football tournament in the Dallas area over the weekend, playing other teams from as far away as Alabama and West Virginia. Pool play was held at the Irving Soccer Complex on Saturday while bracket play was held at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, in Arlington.

Games began on Saturday morning at 8:00 AM as The Lil Harvesters faced off against Metro Select, a team from the metroplex. Metro Select would win the game by a score of 20-0. Metro Select would eventually win first place in the Gold bracket. At 9:00, The Lil Harvesters faced off against the Hoover Legends from Alabama. Hoover would win a close game over Pampa by a score of 13-6. The Hoover Legends would eventually finish in 2nd place in the Silver Bracket. At 10:00, Pampa would face off against the Loudon Legends, a team from West Virginia. Pampa would end up on the short end of the stick again, losing by a score of 13-6. Loudon, would end up winning the Silver Bracket Championship.

On Sunday, the players and families were treated to a tour of AT&T Stadium, before they kicked off bracket play. The tour included the Dallas Cowboy locker room as well the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader locker room.

Finishing 0-3 in pool play, Pampa found themselves in the bronze bracket with three other teams that finished pool play with similar records. In the semi-final game, Pampa would face off against the GSES Cougars, from the DFW area. Pampa would win a thriller in overtime by a score of 14-13, and would advance to the bronze championship against the Brady Bulldogs, from Brady Texas.

In the championship game, Pampa would hang and win the bronze championship by a final score of 21-8. Each player was awarded a championship ring, banner and championship flags to display.

Team members are Austin Hunt, Paxton Daniels, Landry Crawford, Cruise Godino, Easton Willis, Baron Hudson, Aaron Martinez and Phoenix Lopez. Coaches for the team are Kyle Daniels and Aaron Lopez.
