Lola Feleise Powell, 84 years of age, of Borger, formerly of Pampa, took her Heavenly Father’s hand and left this earthly body to be in eternal rest on Thursday, June 17, 2021, at Caprock Nursing Home in Borger. She was born the oldest of four children to Walter and Joeldine Elliott on July 24, 1936, in Kellerville, Texas.

Beginning at an early age, Feleise had a compassionate and nurturing heart that indeed played a major role in her becoming a CNA and working in the nursing and healthcare industry caring for others. In 1959, while working at the old Worley Hospital, she met Bobby Powell and they married on April 6, 1963, in Lefors at her family’s residence that later became their home. After moving the family to Manter, Kansas for a short while, they moved back to Pampa in the summer of 1976 and planted their roots. Not having much wealth, Feleise’ practical and frugal nature deemed to be greatly beneficial in the success of raising a family. Bobby always cultivated a large vegetable garden to which she would “can” or “put up” the harvest to ensure they had plenty for the winter months. Feleise was very down to earth, didn’t long for new things and always thought the giver was more important than the gift itself. She was very straight forward, accepted diversity, carried a “go with the flow” attitude and remained very consistent throughout her life. Once she made a decision, she very rarely changed her mind, and she was most certainly an overcomer. All of these traits are contributing factors to a long and successful marriage of 57 years to Bobby. Although a resident of a nursing home, she remained continually active until her passing. Once again, the ability to care for others fulfilled her heart as she was able to call bingo and assist with other residents needs. Feleise’s warm smile, hearty laughter and tender care will be missed by so many whose lives she has touched.

Those who passed away before her were her husband of 57 years, Bobby Powell, Sr; her parents, and a daughter, Hope Brown.

She leaves behind to embrace her memories and wisdom a son, Bobby Powell, Jr and fiancé Hazel Pengson of Dumfries, Virginia; daughter, Deann Culver and husband Wade of Pampa; two brothers, Wayne Elliott of Abilene, Don Elliott of Columbia, TN; sister, Alpha Elliott of Abilene; 10 grandchildren, Mandi Powell, Johnnie Powell, Brandi King, Oliver Berry, Antony Powell, Preston Powell, William Powell, Brandon Brown, Brian Brown, Glenda Rodibaugh; seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews as well as extended family members.

Feleise will be available to pay last respects on Monday, June 21, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Winegeart Funeral Home.

Celebration of Life Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 22, 2021at Memorial Heights Cemetery in Lefors with Brother Dale Meadows officiating. The family has entrusted the care of their precious loved one to Winegeart Funeral Home.
