When the Lord Jesus left this earth physically after His resurrection from the Mount of Olives, He told His disciples that He would one day return in power and glory, “And while He had spoken these things, while they beheld, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. While they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold two angels stood by them in white apparel; which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye here gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen Him go into heaven,” (Acts 1:9-11).
He had already taught them that many things had to transpire before His Second Coming. Like us they wanted to know more specifically, “And as He sat upon the Mount of Olives, the disciples came unto Him privately, saying, ‘Tell us when shall these things be? And what shall be stye signs of they coming, and the end of the world,’ (Matthew 24:3). The Lord gives a very interesting and detailed explanation of the coming events in Matthew 24 and 25. This is a powerful and interesting study but is seldom preached upon. I recommend you give these chapters a close examination with their Second Coming truths about the last days.
Without this knowledge how can we know about His promised Second Coming? This interesting study will help us prepare and be ready for His return. The church today is so focused on social events it often neglects the truth in the Bible on Christ’s return. Knowing these truths will motivate you to live with an expectancy of His return. Surely the Day of the Lord is coming soon!
The Book of Revelation closes with a final statement from Jesus Christ, “He which testifieth these things saith, “Surely I am come quickly. Amen. Even so, come Lord Jesus.” (Revelation 22:20). Be watching and be ready!
