Lyn Lee Fuller Luster, of White Deer, went to her final rest on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 in Amarillo at the age of 74 years old, 11 months and 27 days.
Services will be at 10:00 AM Monday, October 17, 2022 at Community Crossroads Church in White Deer with Rev. Dr. Jerry Lane, pastor, officiating. Cremation will follow the service under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Lyn was born October 15, 1947, in Harper County, Oklahoma to Bonnie Christine Rush and Louis T. Fuller. Lyn’s father, Louis, followed the oil patch, so she got to experience life in various locations. She graduated from High school in Ardmore Oklahoma in 1965 and met the love of her life, Darell in 1966. They married on October 1, 1966, in Pampa, and had just celebrated 56 years of being married. Lyn followed Darell to Fort Bragg, North Carolina, where they lived during Darell’s Army service. Upon returning to Pampa, Lyn started her career with the Kelly Laycock clinic in Pampa, working there for several years.
Lyn went to work for Cabot Corporation Pampa plant, starting off in the office as a traffic dispatcher and transferring to the plant in the carbon black shipping. She retired after 30 years’ service. Lyn couldn’t stand the thought of relaxing, so Lyn began her volunteer service with the White Deer EMS in the early 2000’s as an EMT. When the service needed a director, Mayor Kent Kelp asked her to be the EMS director ‘until they could find someone permanent. Lyn held that position for 5 years and was the director at her death. She continued to work even through her breast cancer diagnosis and treatments. Even during her chemotherapy treatments, Lyn continued to perform as an EMT, providing emergency care to others. Lyn loved the White Deer community and was well known for taking those who had no transportation to their doctor appointments, and for providing meals for those in need. Lyn was also a 20-year member of the White Deer Lions Club, where she was a faithful member during the White Deer Rodeo, serving up burritos for high school scholarships. She loved attending church and was a member of the Community Crossroads Church in White Deer. Lyn had a great love for animals of all kinds and adopted many in need of a home and spoiled them greatly.
The two welcomed their only son, Christopher Michael, on June 26, 1972.
Lyn was a cub scout leader to Chris and many of the other boys. She was an avid supporter of White Deer High School sports, cheering for the Bucks during Chris’ high school years. Lyn became a mother to Christyn and raised her as the daughter she always wanted. She supported her FFA and sports endeavors, often referring to her as ‘Queenie’. Then Christyn gave her the greatest gift, a great-grandson, Emmett.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Darell Luster; son, Christopher Luster and wife Ida “Rainey”; daughter, Christyn; granddaughter, Brooke Luster; step-granddaughter, Syndelyn Langston; and great grandchildren, Emmett Miranda, Ayers Langston, Kyler Langston and Ryan Langston.
Also, surviving her is her twin sister, Ann Langston and husband Dutch, and younger sister, Christina Barbour and husband Roger; brother-in-law, David Luster; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to PAWS animal rescue in Pampa or to the White Deer Volunteer EMS.
